Sweet 16 Cherry Blossom Cake

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a fondant cake. I was soo excited to get this cake order for a cherry blossom cake for a girl at my school’s sweet 16. It was a very exciting experience as I’ve never done a cake like this before. Her party was cherry blossom themed, so the cake I made followed that theme as well.

Pink Ruffle Cake {Cake 4 Kids Cake #10}

It has been a REALLY long time since I’ve made a cake for “Cake 4 Kids” and I’m so glad I finally made time to make a cake for them. (For more info on Cake 4 Kids, check out my Cake 4 Kids page.)

This time I made a cake for a little girl’s 2nd birthday. For this cake, I decided to use frosting to decorate instead of fondant to broaden my icing decorating skills.

Mother’s Day Chocolate Flower Pots

Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers everywhere! This year for Mother’s Day, I made a delicious treat that moms everywhere will love- chocolate flower pots!

Last year for Mother’s Day, I made a cupcake flower bouquet that was very cute and effective. This year I baked moist chocolate cake in little jars with chocolate flowers I made.

These desserts were very easy and simple and only needed a few things to make.

What I did first was bake chocolate cake batter in oven safe glass jars and for the dirt, I slathered on some Nutella (or you could also use chocolate frosting) and added crushed Oreos (or any chocolate cookies) on top.

Then, for the flowers, I melted several different colors of candy melts and poured the melted chocolate into Ziploc bags. I snipped the corner of the bag and piped different kinds of flowers on to some wax paper. For the stem, I used cake pop sticks dipped into green melted chocolate and after it was dried, I attached the stem to the back of the flowers using a bit of melted chocolate.

These treats aren’t just great for Mother’s Day, but for many other occasions and holidays!

Daisy “Cake 4 Kids” Cake #6

I have finally gotten to bake after so long! Like 3 WHOLE WEEKS. Yeah, I know it’s unbelievable.

The reason I couldn’t bake was because we were getting our kitchen remodeled which meant a new oven, so I guess it was worth the wait (even if I was getting low on sugar :/ ).

The cake that I baked this time was for Cake 4 Kids (an organization that I volunteer for). It was for a little girl that was turning two.

I decided to cover this cake with frosting instead of fondant. This cake was a 3 layer white cake with vanilla buttercream.

Because this cake was for a little girl, I loved planning out how I was going to decorate this cake. I probably had about a hundred girly things I could do with this cake. There were fondant bows, icing flowers, chocolate ribbons. Don’t even get me started on the different color schemes. 😉

At the end, I settled for an orange cake and white fondant daisies with yellow centers.

Simple and sweet.
